wipe, wipe, wipe, wipe and repeat

This post might fall under the TMI category but it chronicles one of those frequent experiences that can make me want to laugh or scream.

So, it was 7:45pm, Andrew was flying and i was getting way too excited to finally put the dear children to bed. We had jammies on, teeth brushed and all we had left to do was read a story and close the doors. unfortunately, we also still had to get up the stairs and walk past the potty which i was afraid would remind them that they "needed" to go ... For some reason they always "have to go potty" when its nap or bedtime so i always try to distract them quickly enough so they don't have time to think about it. I know my attitude is a little counterproductive but at this point, having them go potty in the big potty is more work, definitely takes more time and is honestly a little irritating when it coincides with the beloved bedtime.

Anyway, I brought the girls upstairs and sure enough Sophie announced she had to go. While i was getting her situated (in between heating up a bottle for Ben)  in came Madeline with the portable potty that she had carried up from downstairs because now she had to go potty too. Great. they were both sitting there, chatting away while i went downstairs to get Ben's bottle and start feeding him. Minutes later, Sophie walked downstairs into the kitchen (sans clothes) and announced "ME went POOOOPY!"  I put Ben down, took Sophie back up stairs, talked to her about staying put and wiped her. Then, i went back downstairs to continue feeding. Right as i was about to go back upstairs to check on Madeline,  i started hearing Sophie exclaim, "Madeline went POOOOOPY!" i yelled as i walked, "Stay there Madeline! don't come down before i wipe you!"  When i walked in the bathroom, Madeline was walking about and there wasn't any poopy in her little potty so i looked around and sure enough it had been thoughtfully dumped all over the trashcan. Sophie took the credit, "Me put it in chash can, mommmy." Super.
So, i wiped Madeline just in time to hear a faint "mommmmmmmmy, can you wiiiiiiiipe meeeeee???" coming from downstairs from Will who apparently had to go poopy as well. So i ran downstairs again, wiped him, picked up Ben only to smell that he, not wanting to be left out, had also gone poopy. It was now close to 8:30, and since the girls had to eat their "special poopy treats" we brushed teeth, again. and then finally put them all in bed.
So...... yay for indoor plumbing, wet wipes, and disposable diapers and for the HOPE that one day everyone will take care of their "business" without any assistance from me! woohoo. :)

Meagan! I know that you said you laugh and scream, but it made me laugh. :) I'm glad they are doing so well with the potty thing, even if it is a little inconvenient.

Wow! You're amazing - I can only hope this never happens to me because I am sure I would end up crying instead of laughing. As a side note, these pictures are beautiful, what camera do you have?
